I am formalizing my collection (finally) into a pretty impressive display. Over 2,200 inventoried specimens and faceted stones to match the rough. I am a very crafty person, and often find tricks to make one technique serve another. Any input on using hot glue to mount specimens? Stronger bond, CLEAR (instead of the ugly blue/yellow/white) putty. Can be snapped right off. Can balance specs on base.
Any input?

Hi Meade, Do you have pics of some samples? I used hot glue, and put sampels on crystal plastic stands, but sometimes glue is hard to remove without damages. I have seen some guys who use wax,not terrific too. I have tried a special black resin, molded in a cartoon ,and put the sample as I want it to stay, then I work on the base to make it pretty, and it creates a special unique base. When the sample on black background, seems it stands alone, not too bad.
